David Anderson, age 64, of Nevada, Iowa, died Monday, April 7, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Memorial services were held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, with Pastor David Burling officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Born July 13, 1949, in Story County, Iowa, David Craig Anderson was the son of Milton B. and Geraldine Anderson. He attended school in Nevada and served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam era.
In 1970, David married Diane Huscko at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colo. Two children, Macheal and Craig, were born to this union. The couple was later divorced.
David was united in marriage to Aloma Backoff in 1976 at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. They were later divorced. David lived in Nevada until moving to the VA Medical Center in 2012.
In earlier years, David worked for the Nevada Lumber Yard with his father. He worked in road maintenance for the DOT many years and later hauled grain for Vincent Trucking of Nevada.
David had many hobbies and interests, including catfishing, camping, playing pool and cribbage, and building model cars. He especially enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends.
Survivors include two children, Macheal Anderson and fiancé Shawn Hickman, and Craig Anderson, all of Nevada; six grandchildren, Marissa Ditzian, Kayden Anderson, Sami Jo Marie Anderson, Cecily Anderson, Callen Anderson, and Kody Hickman; a great-granddaughter, Zoey Jayne Downs; and his ex-wife, Aloma Anderson of Nevada.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada was entrusted with the care of David and his family.
